Importing a Trial in Smatrix

Importing a Trial in Smatrix

In Smatrix, there are two ways to establish trials for data collection:

  • Create your own trial template within Smatrix

  • Import an existing trial template from another user

The following are instructions for the second method: Import an Existing Trial from Another Smatrix User. See also Creating a Trial in Smatrix.

About Importing a Trial. In Smatrix, another user can export a trial template as JSON file. You can then upload this JSOn file as a trial template.

Note about JSON file import. If you import another Smatrix user’s JSON file, you will only be able to import the file structure (template). You will not be able to import any associated data (observations) that the other user may have entered.

Importing a Trial in Smatrix

  1. Open Smatrix.

  2. Tap the black plus icon in the upper right hand corner of the start up screen.

4. Smatrix will direct you to a list of drives that are accessible on your device (Fig. 53).

Fig. 53. Smatrix will direct you to a screen that shows the drives available on your device. The drives available will vary depending on your apps and settings.

5. Select the drive where the shared JSON file is located. (These instructions assume another Smatrix user has shared a file with you.)

6. Open the JSON file.

7. You may see a pop-up message stating “Import contains data. Import of trials with data is not supported. Do you want to continue the import without data?” (Fig. 54).

Fig. 54. A pop-up window appears if the JSON file contains observation data. This data will not be imported into Smatrix.

8. Select “OK”.

9. The JSON file will be opened as a trial in Smatrix, ready for you to collect data.
